TECH TIP: Why 10/22 Shims?

Our Ruger 10/22 Trigger Shim Kits will remove side play found in stock and custom trigger assemblies, will stop the trigger from rubbing the trigger housing and smooth the trigger pull, correctly centering the Hammer, Disconnector, Sear and Trigger, Reducing Friction and possibly improving accuracy.
The Improvement in Metal Trigger Assembly's is Immediatly Obvious,
in Plastic Trigger Assembly's while not as immediatly noticable,
centering all parts is quite useful and worthwhile

TECH TIP: Which 10/22 Shim Kit?

Hammer Shim Style -
Metal or Universal / Plastic ?

Our Ruger 10/22 Trigger Shim Kits come in two styles,
I describe as Metal or Universal / Plastic Style
The difference is the Hammer, and where you put the Two Different Style Hammer Shims

Metal or Plastic refers to the Trigger Housing Material, NOT the shim material
~ ALL OUR SHIMS are made from STAINLESS STEEL ~

Older Ruger Rifles (old school) had Metal Trigger Housings while Newer Ruger 10/22 Rifles have a Plastic Trigger Housing

The Old Style Metal Housing Trigger Assembly had a Hammer with 2 bushings, shims could be installed inside the bushings

Ruger's New Plastic Trigger Assembly used a Metal Injection Molded (M.I.M.) Hammer with molded-in bushings, and can only use the New Style Universal / Plastic Style Shims

NOTE: The New Universal Style Hammer Shim can be used with Both Style Hammers in both Plastic and Metal Trigger Housings

All of our Stainless 10/22 Shim Kits can be ordered either for the Original 10/22 Metal Trigger Housing or the New 10/22 Universal / Plastic Trigger Housing Assembly with one piece Hammer/Bushing set

Our Ruger 10/22 Trigger Shim Kits for Plastic Style Trigger Housings are not made for BX Triggers because the BX Style Sear and Disconnector does not need shims, so buying a "KIT" is overkill as you can only use 1/2 the shims

Ruger's New Plastic BX Trigger Assembly used a Metal Injection Molded (M.I.M.) Hammer with molded-in bushings, and can only use one set of 2 New Style Universal / Plastic Style Shims

NOTE: Our Universal Style Hammer Shim can be used with Both Regular and BX Trigger Housings

TECH TIP: Trigger Assembly Pins

The pins included in your Ruger Trigger Assembly serve the purpose, but leave something to be desired when upgrading your Trigger Assembly for best performance. Not exactly round and somewhat undersized, our Ground Stainless Steel pins are an easy-to-install improvement.
The Stock Ruger Pins in my Rifle were anywhere from .0002" to .002" undersize and out-of-round with a less than ideal finish.
These pins are approximately .0003" over nominal size and ground perfectly round.
By installing the Ground Stainless Oversize Pin Pak in my 10/22T which has a Power Custom Hammer and Adjustable Sear kit I measured over 1/2 pound additional improvement in Trigger Pull.
