U.S. MILITARY SPRINGFIELD 1873

1873 SpringField Breech Block Hinge Shim

Nominal O.D. of .419" X I.D. of .221"

Available .002" to .010"

This is the same shim we use on many Colt SA .22 Revolvers as a cylinder shim with 7/32" Base Pin
Note: Also fits the Breech Block Hinge on the 1873 Springfield

Installs on the Breech Block Hinge Pin with a .216" to .220" or 7/32" Diameter

Customer Ron Writes:
1. Remove barrel/breech from stock
2. Drive out hinge pin far enough for breech block removal but leave in enough to retain spring loaded extractor
3. Measure inside width of receiver and width of breechblock to determine shims needed
4. Place shims on breechblock with a tiny bit of oil, reinstall breechblock in a vertical manner. May require tapping with small hammer
5. Push hinge pin back in ~ Done.
6. Breechblock will now stay in any position due to tightness but still moves freely and without side to side slop
